Video Note: AI Euphoria, Bubbles, & Evolution

This is a video companion to my 2024 essay, ‘My AI Thesis.’

In this video, I use an “AI Iceberg” visualization to break down the essay’s core argument. I also share the personal history that drove me to write this thesis, and I address the trillion-dollar question regarding the massive infrastructure investments pouring into this space vs. the alleged lack of clear use cases today that necessitate that much investment.

A major focus of the video is juxtaposing two distinct frameworks that act as cousins: the Gartner Hype Cycle (focuses on technological expectations) and the classic Economic Market Bubble chart (focuses on financial valuation). One maps our psychology, the other maps our money. By overlaying these two forces, I argue that despite the current ‘Euphoria,’ we likely haven’t reached the true peak yet. I use this visualization to hypothesize on the burning question about supply vs. demand and explain why I believe that sustainable use cases are rarely discovered during the hype, but instead emerge from the necessary ‘Capitulation’ and ‘Trough of Disillusionment’ that follow.

With the help of Gemini, I juxtaposed two cousin charts (Gartner Hype Cycle and Economic Market Bubble) to explain what I see is happening and answer a very important question about supply and demand.
